When contacting technical support, please have the following information available: - The specific steps necessary to reproduce the problem you are experiencing - A daytime telephone number where you can be reached - The product name and version number along with Build number and any service packs installed - Your computer name and model and the name and model of any additional hardware (video adapter, network cards, etc.) - Operating system and version number and what service packs have been installed If you think you are having problems related to a fingerprint reader, please locate and run the program named CheckDFR.exe. This program generates a file named DFR.LOG, that can help in identifying problems related to the fingerprint reader. After the CheckDFR program has run, please send this DFR.LOG file, along with a description of the problem, to Identix technical support via e-mail (idxsupport@L1ID.com). ============ KNOWN ISSUES ============ 1. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR BIOLOGON USERS: This version of the FRC's will work only with BioLogon 3 SP7a with Hot Fix 5 and above and BioLogon 4.X If you are using an older copy of BioLogon, then you will need to install FRC 4.3 or lower. If you need access to this, please contact Identix Technical Support. 2. You must uninstall any previous builds of the Fingerprint Reader Components prior to installing this version - In order to get this version of the Fingerprint Reader Components installed, you will need to go to ADD/REMOVE Programs and uninstall any older versions of the Fingerprint Reader Components. Installing this version over the older versions could make your system unstable and will render the fingerprint reader inoperable. 3. The Identix(R) BioTouch(R) 200 USB needs to be tuned during the installation - During the installation of the Fingerprint Reader Components, you will need to tune the BioTouch 200 USB in order for it to be recognized after the reboot. If you miss the tuning during the installation, after you reboot, log into the PC with your password and tune the BioTouch 200 USB per the instructions in the User's Guide. 4. If you are using the The STMicro TouchChip TCRU1C fingerprint reader: - It is not supported on Windows NT - The STMicro TouchChip fingerprint reader will not work with BioLogon software in a Windows NT environment. - If you are using the STMicroTouchChip fingerprint reader with BioLogon you will need to install FRC 4.3 to get this to work. 5. The DFR 2080, DFR-2100, and the TouchChip fingerprint readers will not work in a Terminal Session 6. After installing the STMicro TouchChip TCRU1C, DFR-500, DFR-2100 or DFR-2080 there is a Help and Support Center box that is popping up with "Generic Hardware Device Troubleshooter" - The additional troubleshooting screen is displayed by Windows because it thinks that the device is already installed but not working when we invoke the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard, so the "Add/Troubleshooting a device" option thinks we are troubleshooting. You can close this message to bypass it; it is not needed. 7. Installing the DFR 2080, DFR 2100/USB2 or DFR 500 will require using the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard - During the install of the FRC, you will need to select the DFR2080, DFR2100/USB2 or DFR500 reader. After you hit Next, it will bring up the Add/Hardware wizard. Follow the instructions within the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard. When this is complete, it will put you back into the FRC installer. Finish installing the drivers as normal. 8. You cannot silently install the DFR 2080, DFR 2100/USB2, DFR 500 or STMicro Touchchip fingerprint readers - These drivers call the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard and require user interaction to add the drivers. Normal install of the FRC is recommended for use with these readers. 9. The BioTouch(R) PC Card will not work in a Terminal Session or Citrix Session - With this build of the Fingerprint Reader Components, the PC Card will not work over a Terminal Session or a Citrix Session. If you are interested in using your laptop and the BioTouch PC Card in this capacity, please contact us at idxsupport@L1ID.com, and we will make available the older driver for the BioTouch PC Card. 10. Active Directory install of the FRC requires the user to log into the PC to load the drivers - If you are installing the FRC via Active Directory Publishing, after the install, the user will have to log in to the PC in order for the drivers to load. If you are doing an Active Directory install of the FRC, please contact us at idxsupport@L1ID.com for a workaround. 11. The UPEK Touchstrip TCS3 does not require the Add/Remove Hardware wizard or configuration during installation - If the Add/Remove Hardware wizard appears during the install sequence it must be cancelled. Also, when the dialog window asking to configure the reader appears, make sure the check box labelled "Yes, I want to configure my fingerprint reader now' is unchecked before clicking the next button.
