Fingerprint Reader Components (FRC) 5.02

IMPORTANT: If you have an older version 4.xx of the Fingerprint Reader Components (FRC) already installed on the PC, you will need to uninstall it BEFORE installing this version. Installing over the older version could make your fingerprint reader become unstable. This is not required if the existing version is 5.xx or higher.

The currently supported readers in this version of the FRC are as follows:

  • BioTouch® 200
  • BioTouch® 500
  • DFR®-2100 USB2

Highlight of changes:

- Windows Vista support added for all supported readers.
- Microsoft signed drivers on Windows XP and Windows Vista.
- USB 1.1 support removed for BTO-500/DFR-500.
- Legacy device support has been removed in this release. If you require drivers for a previously supported fingerprint device not listed here, please refer to FRC v4.11 (below).

  • DFR®-2080
  • DFR®-2100
  • DFR®-2100 USB2
  • STMicro Touchchip USB Fingerprint Reader
  • UPEK TCS3
  • Authentec 2501 Swipe Sensor

Highlight of changes:

DFR500/DFR2100U2
- Fixed memory/handle leaks, removed spawned threads.
IDXIMF.DLL
- Removed debug prints when used in a console application.
FRC Installer
- Fixed issue when installing on laptop with docking station.

Single Finger Reader SDK Downloads

Please see the Release Notes included in the zip file for what has been updated in this release. We have included the “Install procedure” below.

Install procedure (DFR-500 SDK v3.01)

  1. If you have plugged in the device, please unplug it now.
  2. Run the DFR-500 SDK installer. Standard installations should just use the default settings.
  3. After the SDK is completed, plug in the device to your USB Port.
  4. Windows will see the device and automatically install the driver.

The DFR-500 SDK Release Notes and Developers Guide can be found in the following folder:

C:\Program Files\L1ID\DFR-500 SDK\Doc

  2. Run the DFR-2100 SDK installer. Standard installations should just use the default settings.
  3. After the SDK is completed, plug in the device to your USB Port.
  4. Windows will see the device and automatically install the driver.

The DFR-2100 SDK Release Notes and Developers Guide can be found in the following folder:

Install procedure (DFR-2080 API Software)

  1. If you have plugged in the device, please unplug it now.
  2. Run the DFR-2080 SDK installer. Standard installations should just use the default settings.
  3. After the SDK is completed, plug in the device to your USB Port.
  4. Windows will see the new device and bring up the Hardware Installation Wizard.
  5. Point the Hardware Installation Wizard to the “USB Driver” folder located in installation folder:
    (C:\Program Files\Identix\DFR 2080 Demo\USB Driver)

Install procedure (DFR-2090 API Software):

  1. Click “DFR-2090 API Software” link above.
  2. Save file to local temporary directory on hard drive and Unzip.
  3. Follow directions in the “Release Notes.doc” file to complete installation.
