Immigration to the United States
L-1 Identity Solutions is the designated fingerprinting service provider in Canada for persons applying for Immigrant Visas to the United States. All applicants will be issued an information kit outlining the process involved in immigrating to the United States. Fingerprints taken for the FBI search at any location other than those listed on the applicant’s letter of instruction will not be accepted thereby delaying your application.
In addition to the required FBI clearance, visa applicants living within Canada also require a police clearance certificate issued by the RCMP. Fingerprints for this process can be obtained at any L-1 office in Canada at the same time of fingerprinting for the FBI clearance.
What to Bring
You will need to bring two pieces of government issued identification with you to your fingerprinting session, at least one of which must be a government-issued photo ID, such as a passport, driver’s license, health card, citizenship card or immigration documents. If you have a letter or file number associated with your US Visa application please bring it with you to your appointment. Our flexible payment options include cash, major credit cards, debit or money order.
What to Expect
You fingerprints will be taken by professionally trained fingerprint personnel and submitted electronically to the RCMP for processing. Our quick and professional fingerprinting session will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
WHat Happens Next
Once L-1 has been notified by the RCMP that they have received your prints we will receive no further communication from them about your file – see privacy policy Here. You or your authorized representative can inquire about the status of your submission by contacting the RCMP Civil Fingerprinting Screening Services at 613-998-6362 or by visiting http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cr-cj/fing-empr2-eng.htm. The RCMP will mail the results of your police clearance to you directly as soon as they are available, typically within 72 hours if there is no criminal history.
