Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager participates to the strategic leadership in the Government market. The mandate of this team is to ensure that we have a deep understanding for the needs and trends of the assigned customer through market intelligence and that we lead the market in the development of products and services to address these needs and profitably grow market share. The Business Development Manager will perform the accountabilities detailed below and other duties as assigned

Essential Job Functions (includes but is not limited to):
• Develop & establish partnerships with external customers & networks within industry organizations so as to anticipate and meet current and future needs
• Collect segment specific customer requirements & ensure circulation of customer & sales feedback to vertical & product marketing teams
• Develop deep understanding of issues & trends in assigned segment, including potentially disruptive technologies
• Analyze market metrics (market accepted price points, unit volumes, competitive dynamics, market shares and pipelines) to aid decision making
• Support and drive strategy through leadership of strategic discussions for the government business
• Create and drive the government sector; to encompass business, product and channel strategies to profitably grow the segment and set the direction for market oriented solutions
• Develop and maintain segment roadmap; to include messaging, target audiences, products & services to deliver and goals to be achieved. Ensure roadmap alignment with other marketing initiatives & communication programs
• Support market-focused product development efforts including participation in portfolio management processes
• Based on segment understanding, develop a comprehensive solution & sales positioning model that includes compelling value propositions and customer applications
• Develop segment oriented sales collateral
• Act as a government evangelist and company spokesperson for the assigned market – for high level sales calls and contact for press and analysts, speaking at conferences and trade shows,
• Create and implement vertical communication plan in partnership with Marketing Communications team; including press releases, brand and product advertisements, editorials, success stories and reference letters
• Drive attendance and presence at industry specific seminars and maximize speaking opportunities
• Develop white papers and presentations on government solution
• Partner with Training and Regional Sales teams to define, develop and deliver government market training events

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 5 years experience in a business development role within a large scale technology company
• Demonstrated success in leading, growing and driving change in organizations
• History of demonstrated success in driving and delivering strong organizational results
• Strong knowledge and experience internationally and proven ability to work cross-culturally
