Job Summary:
This exciting position is an excellent opportunity to be a key contributor in L-1 Secure Credentialing Division’s mission to provide revolutionary products and solutions to the identity security industry. The candidate must be experienced in the full software development life cycle, including team leadership experience. The engineer will lead one or more software engineering project teams. The engineer will be responsible for developing plans, defining approaches, originating designs, conducting engineering/scientific analyses and experimentation, and documenting results. They will develop engineering designs resulting in improved/new software applications, components, devices, products, processes and production, and assume additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • Team leadership, mentoring and accountability responsibilities
  • Providing technical direction to a small group of engineers, scientists, or technicians assigned to a project
  • Working alone on complex technical projects
  • Investigating, documenting and solving technical problems involving knowledge in software and electronic design and implementation
  • Analyzing performance problems, and designing and implementing software improvements
  • Working with QA manager to trouble shoot problems, clarify issues, assess priorities, estimate effort, define problem resolutions, and identify workarounds
  • Evaluating and integrating 3rd party packages
  • Following software development procedures, SCM, and bug tracking facilities
  • Creating and tracking project plans and schedules, identifying risks, and reporting status
  • Customer support with integration and hardware/software problem resolution
  • Developing and reviewing documentation
  • Traveling nationally and internationally to customer sites as lead engineer
